About the Kawasaki Ukiyo-e GallerySaito Fumio Collection
The Kawasaki Ukiyo-e Gallery opened in December 2019 (Reiwa 1) as a space where visitors can easily enjoy ukiyo-e masterworks. The displayed works are part of the approximately 6,000 works owned by the Kawasaki Isago-no-Sato Museum. The collection is renowned both in Japan and overseas for its rare ability to present an overview of the history of ukiyo-e.
The Museum is also known for its important holdings of ukiyo-e works related to the local history of Kawasaki. The City of Kawasaki loaned the collection without charge to the museum operated by the Kawasaki Foundation. Special thematic displays are presented every month.
